Julia makes small and miniature quilts using both hand and machine stitching. She has developed a quick and easy technique to make the quilts and she enjoy teaching this to share the fun and enjoyment of making miniature quilts. Julia finds inspiration from the natural world through walking and cycling in the Surrey Hills and travelling to the Mediterranean, especially the Greek Islands.

September Book Swap:
This is a new initiative! I’m sure you have some amazing quilting books on your shelves but you know you will never use them. Well, why not swap your book for a different one? Here’s how it will work:
Bring along a book or books (maximum three), preferably on patchwork, quilting or applique, but broader sewing themed or craft books would be fine. The only condition is that the book needs to be in good condition.
Hand your book(s) in when you arrive at the meeting, along with £1 per book and you will be given a raffle ticket(s).
All the books will be displayed on a table for you to browse through so that you know what is available. A bit like being at an auction!
Later, when we are ready to go, a raffle number will be called out and that member comes up and take a book of their choice. Then the next number etc etc. That way its random and fair who gets first pick. Hopefully you will leave with an exciting book.
Alternatively, you can donate books without having to pay a fee and then at the end of the evening we can offer any remaining books for sale.
The overall aim is for you to have some different books to give you ideas at a reasonable cost and at the same time raise some money for Mimram.
